Quake 2 was created for Windows 95/98 systems. Installation onto a 64 bits version of Windows 10, 8 and Windows 7 seems to be possible and the game also starts properly. However, getting the game going in full screen is a challenge. Resolutions higher than 1600x1200 are not available. And you can only look around with your mouse by pressing a key. All in all pretty 90s!
So you can head over to GOG.com and download the complete Quake II: Quad Damage game. It includes Quake II, The Reckoning and Ground Zero mission packs, AND the Extremities Netpack. Awesome.
But, as with almost all games on this website, there's also a source port available for Quake 2. And it's a good one. Only downside is that it's hosted on a Russian website. So you have to look carefully between all the Russian characters. Visit the project website at http://berserker.quakegate.ru if you like. Thankfully, you can also download full packages from moddb.com.
So, what do you need to get this thing going?
Install quake2 from Steam, GOG or from original CD-ROM. For cd version install 3.20 patch. Unzip q2xp in to quake2 folder. Install openAL drivers for your audio card. Remove previous version of xpconfig.cfg and CACHEXP folder. About compatibility with the original game (original multiplayer servers, old demos) and mods. Just playing the berserker mod of quake 2, makes it pretty, huge resolutions and really nice texture packs, still buggy for myself with some models and lighting glitches but to play the game like.
Microsoft office 2010 for mac free download. The Berserker@Quake2 application tends to increase the brightness of the screen. When the application is closed, these settings stay enabled. After a system restart with Windows 7, default brightness will be restored. In Windows 8, the brightness remains increased even after a restart until you set them to default with your video driver software. In Windows 10, brightness goes back to normal after the application closes.

Denis ‘0lvin’ Pauk did a wonderfull job in porting the vkQuake2 Vulkanrenderer to Yamagi Quake II. It’ll likely part of the upcoming 8.00release. Until then feedback is needed to find the remaining problems. We’re publishing test builds at a regular intervall. Please reportproblems through Github:Bug tracker

If you’re planing to work on a bigger feature, please do yourself afavor and ask if we’re interested before spending time onto it. Wedon’t merge every feature that’s submitted to us just because the codeis already there. Maintainability, integration with the existing codeand our general focus are of great concern, too.
